The Haut Pays Ecomuseum opened in the summer of 1989 in the former locomotive depot of Breil-sur-Roya. In collaboration with local associations, a transport section was inaugurated on 16 June 1991. Over the years, the museum's focus shifted to industrial heritage, featuring exhibitions on hydroelectricity, transport, and an extensive HO-scale model railway reproducing the characteristic sites of the Col de Tende line.
